Erik began his career in the darkrooms of New York City’s New School of Social Research studying photojournalism with accomplished press photographers. He later interned with Pulitzer Prize winner J. Ross Baughman at Visions Photo Agency in New York.
His strong eye for composition made him an early stand out, winning recognition in Photographer’s Forum magazine’s annual college competition three years in a row. After completing his training at the Center For Media Arts in commercial photography in New York he assisted some of the city’s leading fashion and portrait photographers.
Returning to Fairfield County, Connecticut where he was born and raised, Erik turned his sights back to journalism, freelancing for magazines and newspapers including the Connecticut Post where he was later hired as a staff photographer. His photographs have been featured in the New York Times and the Boston Globe and renowned magazines, Vanity Fair and People. Erik continues to work in journalism as staff photographer for Hearst Connecticut Media. Throughout his career he has been awarded accolades from prestigious trade and community organizations such as The Associated Press and The New England Press Association.
Combining his strong background in fashion and portrait photography and using his photojournalistic sense for the candid moment Erik has turned to the joy of telling beautiful wedding stories. His event photography has appeared in prominent trade publications most notably Weddingbells magazine. Erik is assisted by his wife, Tamarah.
